Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks an experienced Thermal Engineer to lead the thermal protection system design for flexible soft-goods solutions, including blankets, felts, and quilted layups. You will own TPS design delivery and collaborate with subsystem teams to meet thermal and mechanical requirements.

You will guide development/testing campaigns, influence flight implementation, and perform trade studies while documenting results for leadership reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and 9+ years in thermal engineering.
• Strong grounding in thermal fundamentals.
• Familiarity with soft-goods materials used in TPS (high-temp fabrics, quilts).
• Experience building/testing hardware in extreme environments.
• Understanding of aerospace hardware verification/validation.

Responsibilities

• Lead TPS design for flexible/soft-goods solutions.
• Own delivery and quality of TPS system design and hardware.
• Lead development/testing campaigns for new soft-goods materials.
• Develop flight implementation and installation approaches.
• Perform trade studies; collaborate with subsystems on tradeoffs.
• Document results and present to leadership.
