Job summary

Eaton’s IS AER FMC division in Grand Rapids is seeking a Lead Test Engineering Technician to design, build, and support advanced test systems for electro-mechanical actuation products. The role requires traveling 10% of the time, with 1–2 day trips and up to a full week a couple of times per year; salary range $56,000–$83,000 annually, with pay based on skills and experience.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in engineering field or 5+ years relevant experience.
• Strong electrical, mechanical and hydraulic aptitude.
• Soldering capabilities and test plan execution experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel/Word/PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, modify, troubleshoot, repair, and support advanced test systems.
• Create, wire, solder, assemble, instrument, and troubleshoot circuit boards and related hardware.
• Develop test setups and conduct mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and environmental tests per plans and standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-810).
• Utilize lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators, encoders, data acquisition).
• Maintain and improve laboratory, equipment, TPM programs, and safety.
• Provide technical leadership and training to technicians; coordinate external contractors as needed.
• Maintain accurate test records and documentation; ensure ITAR compliance and safety.
