Job summary

Amentum seeks a Lead Test Engineer to support a large-scale Agile software development team for the Sea-Launched Cruise Missile–Nuclear program in Dahlgren, VA. You will lead software testing activities for mission-critical systems in a collaborative, cross-functional environment using Agile and DevSecOps.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering, science, or technical discipline or 5 years of testing expertise in lieu of degree.
• Five years of software engineering experience supporting real-time, software-intensive weapon/system.
• Three years of specialized experience in software engineering, requirements analysis, or related.
• Experience with DOORS for weapon system specifications.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software test strategies and test plans including objectives, scope, schedules, and environments.
• Develop, review, and execute test scenarios, test cases, scripts, and data to validate software functionality and requirements.
• Lead testing activities across multiple levels: exploratory, system, integration, unit, end-to-end, contract, security, and performance.
• Promote and support Test-Driven Development (TDD) within an Agile environment.
• Evaluate and implement test automation tools and frameworks; maintain automated scripts.
• Support testing tools including JUnit/Jest, JaCoCo, Graphene/Selenium, JMeter, Burp Suite, Jira Requirements & Management, Jira X-Ray.
• Manage the test team: assign tasks, priorities, progress, and mentoring.
• Review test artifacts for quality and adherence to plans.
• Track defects and coordinate resolution with development teams; monitor metrics.
• Maintain test traceability and report metrics (coverage, defects, automation, etc.).
• Analyze results and prepare reports for PTEM and Release Readiness.
• Continuously improve testing processes to enhance quality and efficiency.
• Collaborate with sponsors, end users, contractors, developers, and engineers.
• Provide technical leadership and resolve complex testing issues.
