Job summary

Surge is seeking a Technical Product Owner Lead to oversee product ownership standards, delivery quality, and team development across multiple product streams. The role combines hands-on technical product ownership with people leadership in a fast-paced fintech context.

The successful candidate will own a core B2C product stream while leading a team of Technical Product Owners, collaborating with Product, Engineering, Design, Compliance, and Executive stakeholders to ensure high-quality

Qualifications

• 3+ years as Technical Product Owner, Senior Product Owner, or Technical Product Manager.
• Experience directly managing Product Owners, Technical Product Owners, or Business Analysts.
• Hands-on experience writing TRDs, BRDs, UML sequence diagrams, and technical requirements.
• Strong Business Analysis background including process mapping, gap analysis, and requirements gathering.
• Proven backlog ownership experience within a product-led organisation.
• Experience within fintech, payments, digital assets, or another regulated technical environment.
• Strong stakeholder management across technical, business, and executive audiences.
• Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Technical Product Owners.
• Manage performance, career development, hiring, and onboarding activities.
• Establish and maintain standards for TRDs, BRDs, UML documentation, backlog management, and acceptance criteria.
• Act as an escalation point for delivery risks, blockers, and cross–functional challenges.
• Own the backlog and technical requirements for a core B2C product stream.
• Write and review Technical Requirements Documents (TRDs), Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), and UML sequence diagrams.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, and Compliance teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Drive backlog refinement, sprint readiness, and delivery quality.
• Identify process improvements and increase product team effectiveness across multiple streams.
