Surge is building credit infrastructure for hard tech companies. We help businesses in robotics, defense, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing access the financing they need to fulfill contracts, fund production, and grow.
Our platform brings together financing applications, underwriting, funding, monitoring, and servicing - connecting hard tech companies with capital through software built around how their businesses operate.
The roleWe're looking for an Engineering Lead / CTO to own Surge's technical direction, build our product, and help grow the engineering team.
Your scope will span the full platform: customer experiences, backend systems, financial data, integrations, infrastructure, and internal tools. You'll work closely with the founding team to translate customer needs and business priorities into reliable, intuitive software.
You'll also develop AI capabilities that improve how we process information and support underwriting, including adapting and post-training models for specialized credit workflows.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys code, making architectural decisions, and building the foundations of an engineering organization.
What you'll doYour work will directly shape how hard tech companies access capital and deliver on customer demand. You'll have substantial ownership of the product, architecture, engineering practices, and team, with the opportunity to solve meaningful problems across software, finance, and hard tech.
