Job summary

Wilmington Preschool of the Arts, a licensed childcare center in Wilmington, NC, is seeking a Lead Teacher for toddlers. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, or an AA in Early Childhood Education or higher, with background checks completed. Prior childcare experience is a plus.

Typical shift is Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm. Compensation ranges from $16 to $18 per hour, depending on education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate one week in advance using current curriculum guides.
• Implement weekly lesson plans covering all areas of child development and follow classroom schedule.
• Establish rapport with families to provide quality care.
• Ensure safety and well-being of each child and maintain a clean, organized classroom.
• Maintain child assessments and portfolios; conduct biannual parent/teacher conferences.
• Demonstrate physical ability to work around young children (sitting, standing, walking, running, climbing stairs).
• Lift up to 40 lbs and fulfil all physical requirements of the role.
• Carry out daily classroom responsibilities related to child care.

Main Job Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate one week in advance using current curriculum guides.
• Implement lesson plans/curriculum on a weekly basis covering all areas of child development and carryout lesson plans according to classroom schedule/daily routine; Useour parent communication appefficiently.
• Establish a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care for the children.
• Responsible for the safety and well-being of each child, responding to their emotional needs; andmaintaining an organized, clean, safe, and appropriately decorated classroom.
• Maintaina child assessment and portfoliofor each child, as well as conduct biannual parent/teacher conferences during the month of November and May.
• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing,walking,running,and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
• Carry out the daily responsibilities of the classroom relating to the care of the children.
