Job summary

Children's Cottage of Wilmington is seeking a Lead Teacher to support School Age children in the afternoon. You will prepare weekly lesson plans, implement curriculum, and maintain engaging, developmentally appropriate activities.

The ideal candidate will have a HS diploma or GED with a preference for an associate or bachelor's degree, plus the ability to pass background checks. The role runs Monday–Friday, 2:30pm–5:30pm, with benefits and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Ability to pass all background checks.
• Preference for associate or bachelor's degree.
• Experience in childcare is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans a week ahead using current curriculum guides.
• Implement weekly curriculum across all child development areas.
• Establish professional rapport with families to provide quality care.
• Ensure safety and well-being of each child in a clean, safe classroom.
• Maintain child assessments and portfolios; conduct parent/teacher conferences.
• Physical ability to work around small children (sitting, standing, walking, etc).
• Lift and carry up to 40 lbs; meet all physical requirements of the role.
• Carry out daily classroom duties related to child care.

Children's Cottage of Wilmington is a licensed childcare center seeking Lead Teacher to support in the following age groups: School Age.

To beQUALIFIED for this position, we require a high school diploma OR GED and the ability to pass all background checks Preference for applicants who have an associate degree or bachelor's degree. A plus if you have previous childcare experience!

Required Shift:

Monday - Friday, 2:30pm - 5:30pm

Compensation:

$15-$19 hr; based on education and experience

MainJob Responsibilities:

• Prepare lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate one week in advance using current curriculum guides.
• Implement lesson plans/curriculum on a weekly basis covering all areas of child development and carry out lesson plans according to classroom schedule/daily routine; Use our parent communication app efficiently.
• Establish a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care for the children.
• Responsible for the safety and well-being of each child, responding to their emotional needs; and maintaining an organized, clean, safe, and appropriately decorated classroom.
• Maintain a child assessment and portfolio for each child, as well as conduct biannual parent/teacher conferences during the month of November and May.
• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
• Carry out the daily responsibilities of the classroom relating to the care of the children.
