Job summary

Rohde & Schwarz in Frederick, MD seeks a System Engineering Manager to lead VCS teams supporting a major government program. This role oversees systems engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, and electrical engineering solutions, coordinating matrixed teams to ensure quality and governance.

You will drive staffing, onboarding, and staff development in collaboration with our Learning & Development team, and travel up to 30% across the US, Canada, and Europe as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE, CS or related discipline (MS preferred).
• 10+ years of progressive experience in system and test engineering environments.
• Minimum 3 years of direct people-management responsibility (team size 5-20).
• Experience attracting, developing, and retaining high-performing engineering talent.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of systems engineers across disciplines.
• Collaborate with Program Management, Chief System Engineer office, test, design, production, service, and quality teams.
• Define and execute systems engineering strategy, roadmap, and standards for scalability, reliability, and security.
• Drive architecture reviews and technical decisions aligning with customer requirements and regulations.
• Lead creation and maintenance of technical documentation to meet customer requirements.
• Translate customer needs into requirements and competitive solutions.
• Prepare regular project progress reports and issue resolutions.
• Engage in technical interchange meetings with program teams and customers.
• Coordinate with product, software, and R&D teams in Europe and North America.
