Job summary

Ignite Digital seeks a highly experienced Lead Systems Engineer to support a US Navy/US Marine Corps program office in the National Capital Region. This onsite role leads system design, integration, testing, configuration management and technical oversight of complex naval/marine systems.

The candidate will coordinate multi-disciplinary tasks, ensure performance, and guide junior engineers while supporting mission-critical programs.

Qualifications

Active DoD Secret Clearance.
10+ years of practical systems engineering across lifecycle.
Experience leading engineering efforts within DoD, Navy, or Marine Corps environments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for govt and contractor stakeholders.
Ability to work independently onsite at a government facility.

Responsibilities

Coordinate system development activities including design, integration, and verification/testing.
Oversee transitions from development to production and ensure readiness.
Develop and refine system specifications: technical, logistical, functional.
Create and maintain programmatic and technical documentation.
Manage system configuration baselines with traceability and version control.
Validate hardware/software interoperability to meet performance metrics.
Mentor and direct junior systems engineers.
Engage with government counterparts for technical discussions and risk assessments.
