Job summary

Collins Aerospace, part of RTX, is recruiting for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer – Lead Systems Engineer. You will lead cryptography-focused systems engineering within Scrum teams, guiding design, development and security certification for next‑generation crypto and cross‑domain tech.

You will partner with product management to shape backlogs, drive priorities, and ensure on‑time delivery while maturing capabilities from low TRL to program of record.

Qualifications

• Experience leading systems architect for programs over $30–50M with full lifecycle certification including NSA cryptography.
• Experience operating as a Product Owner in an Agile environment.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools.
• Experience capturing customer requirements, design concept development, and deriving system and sub-system requirements.
• Experience with peer reviews, configuration and change management.
• Familiarity with bidding and project estimation tools.
• Active and transferable SECRET clearance is required before start date.
• U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.
• Typically requires STEM degree and 10+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 7+ years.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a Systems Engineering Scrum Team through design, development, integration and test.
• Communicate with management, team members, software/firmware/hardware leads and customers.
• Interface with multiple Scrum Teams to resolve dependencies and challenges.
• Help drive priorities with product owners to manage budget and schedule.
• Meet regularly to identify and remove blockers and mentor contributors.
• Conduct critical path analysis and coordinate with program leadership.
• Monitor issues, escalate when needed, and develop resolutions for productivity and quality.
• Provide support for proposals and bids using estimation tools.
