Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Lead Surveyor for the SPL5 project to supervise survey operations, liaising with Field Engineering and Superintendents. The role may start in Houston, TX, with a long-term field assignment to Sabine Pass, LA, ensuring accurate layout and data throughout construction.

Responsibilities include maintaining survey control networks, generating CAD drawings/DTMs, validating field data, and supporting UAV, 3D scanning, and machine control technologies.

Qualifications

• Multi-disciplinary survey experience across piling, earthwork, roads, drainage, and structures.
• Proven ability to supervise survey teams and coordinate with Field Engineering.
• Experience with UAV (drones) used for surveying and site verification.

Responsibilities

• Lead the oversight of all survey operations and provide technical direction.
• Ensure safety, quality, and environmental programs are followed by the survey team.
• Accurately layout construction work and record field data per specs.
• Provide survey support to Field Engineering and Field Supervision.
• Establish and verify the project survey control network.
• Prepare survey CAD drawings, DTMs, and volume computations.
• Review control fieldwork and perform least-squares adjustments.
• Deliver As-Built records and project completion documentation.
• Oversee survey data management and training programs.
• Oversee UAV, 3D laser scanning, and machine control integrations.
