DLZ Corporation in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Party Chief to lead field survey crews and deliver accurate control, topographic, boundary, and construction layout surveys. You will operate Trimble equipment and interpret plans to guide field operations.

The role emphasizes safety, mentoring junior staff, and coordinating schedules, with opportunities to travel as needed and contribute to community‑shaping infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of progressive experience as a Survey Party Chief.
• Strong ability to perform basic mathematical and trigonometric calculations and understand error propagation in field surveys.
• Ability to obtain OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Certification.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background check, MVR check, and drug test.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime with per diem.

Responsibilities

• Lead a survey crew to complete control, topographic, boundary, construction layout, and utility location surveys.
• Operate robotic total stations, automatic levels, data collectors, laser scanners, GPS, and related field equipment to gather data.
• Interpret construction plans, perform field calculations, and execute precise construction layout.
• Maintain clear, detailed, and accurate field notes; upload/download data and photos.
• Ensure proper maintenance and operation of field survey equipment, vehicles, and supplies.
• Conduct all work with a strong commitment to safety per the Health and Safety Plan.
• Represent DLZ and its core values professionally in all interactions.
• Mentor and coach junior field crew members, fostering their growth.
• Effectively manage field work scope and schedules.
