Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC is seeking a Survey Crew Chief/Survey Party Chief for construction staking. The role supervises field crews, plans data acquisition, and ensures accurate recording of survey data across boundary, topo, and layout tasks.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience, familiarity with Trimble gear, and strong communication. Willingness to travel and work outdoors year-round is required.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of industry experience; crew chief experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet MVR standards.
• Experience operating robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, laser scanners, and levels.
• Experience with Trimble equipment preferred.
• Strong communication, math, and technical skills.
• Able to work outdoors year-round, lift up to 80 lbs, and travel as needed.
• Proven work history and team player attitude.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a land survey crew for daily field operations, including boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys.
• Determine efficient data acquisition plans from primary control to construction layout and as‑built surveys.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications.
• Communicate daily with project managers, engineers, and technicians about schedules and progress.
• Interact professionally with client representatives and landowners.
• Anticipate, prevent, and solve problems within authority.
• Document survey data with accurate field notes, sketches, and communications.
• Prepare daily reports, time sheets, and other required paperwork.
• Maintain survey vehicles and field equipment; follow safety procedures.
