Job summary

UNC Lenoir Health Care in North Carolina is seeking a Surgical Technologist Lead to join the Operating Room team. The role involves providing and performing technical skills under surgeon and nurse supervision, and leading sterile processing and tray management for procedures.

You will assist in maintaining sterile fields, preparing instruments, managing surgeon preference cards, and supporting cost-efficient OR operations. A strong emphasis on patient safety and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• High School graduate.
• Graduate of approved operating room course for surgical technologist.
• CPR Certification.
• Certification from NSAA, Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA), or National Board Surgical Technology (as applicable).

Responsibilities

• Meets patients' surgical needs.
• Sets up surgical back table with instrumentation, supplies and drapes.
• Utilizes surgeon preference cards with circulating nurse to pull cases.
• Provides proper instrument, sponge and sharp counts as prescribed by policy.
• Maintains surgical room setup and readiness for procedures.
• Maintains sterile field and proper PPE usage.
• Cleans and decontaminates instrumentation for sterilization.
• Prepares instruments for sterilization and maintains autoclave documentation.
• Maintains sterile area and supplies.
• Assists in maintaining cost efficiency stock.
