Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• 3-5 years of experience as a surgical technician.
• Prior lead or preceptor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating rooms and fields with instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
• Assists surgical team by passing instruments and anticipating needs during procedures.
• Maintains aseptic technique and infection control per hospital protocols.
• Conducts sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Labels and preserves surgical specimens for pathology and documentation.
• Performs instrument decontamination and room turnover between cases.
• Supports updating physician preference cards and participates in training of staff.
