Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• 3-5 years of experience as a surgical technician.
• Prior lead or preceptor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating room and field with instruments, equipment, and supplies for scheduled procedures.
• Assist during procedures by anticipating the surgeon's needs and passing instruments promptly.
• Apply aseptic technique and infection prevention to ensure patient safety.
• Conduct and document sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Retain and label surgical specimens for pathology and documentation.
• Transport instruments to decontamination and sterilization areas.
• Assist with room turnover between cases and inventory restocking.
• Support maintenance and updating of physician preference cards.
• Assist in orientation and competency training of surgical technicians and team members.
