Job summary

ECS4Kids, formerly Episcopal Children’s Services, is seeking a Substitute Teacher to support daily operations in a Georgia Head Start setting. The role involves classroom support, kitchen and janitorial duties as applicable, and collaboration with staff and families to maintain a high-quality learning environment.

You will help implement culturally sensitive activities, build warm relationships with children, and adhere to safety, nutrition, and program policies.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate competency to provide effective and nurturing teacher-child interactions.
• Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
• Ability to exercise control and maintain appropriate classroom discipline.
• Ability to implement the approved curriculum.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Become Lead/Assistant Teacher when regular teacher is absent.
• Familiarize self with day’s planned activities.
• Assist in implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
• Provide warm, nurturing and positive environment.
• Develop nurturing relationships with each child.
• Maintain federal, state, local and accreditation standards.
• Follow medical and dental emergency policies, medication handling and storage.
• Ensure safe practices to prevent injuries.
• Maintain sanitation and hygiene procedures.
• Encourage parent involvement and effective communication with families.
