Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Protection & Control Engineer to join our Substation Protection and Control team. You will lead a team from proposal through as-built, coordinating with other groups to ensure design concurrence and quality.

You will mentor junior engineers and present solutions to clients. With 7+ years in major utility substations and a PE license, you will develop complete protection and control packages, SCADA inputs, and telltale diagrams while building trusted client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Civil Engineering considered.
• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in protection and control.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Familiar with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Strong analytical and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of protection & control engineers from proposal to as-built stages.
• Coordinate with related engineering groups to ensure design concurrence.
• Develop complete engineering design packages for relaying and comms systems.
• Develop SCADA packages and detailed data sheets.
• Provide technical direction and training to staff.
• Maintain relationships with senior engineers, managers, and clients.
• Present technical solutions to customers and address questions.
• Participate in client meetings and site visits for data collection.
• Ensure QA/QC processes are followed on all designs.
• Delegate and review work of other engineers.
