Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Lead Protection & Control Engineer to design and coordinate protection schemes for T&D substations, data centers, and BESS applications with a focus on safety, quality, schedule, and cost.

You will lead design teams, interface with SCADA, cyber security, and external partners, and ensure IEC 61850 architecture implementation and relay coordination across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 5 years’ engineering experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ protection and controls experience for substations or power generation.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%, including international travel.

Responsibilities

• Design protection schemes for T&D substations, data centers, and BESS applications.
• Lead local or remote design teams for panels, interconnects, and layouts.
• Coordinate SCADA, cyber security, and telecom needs with protection/ control.
• Work with IEC 61850 process and system bus architecture.
• Interface with engineers, designers, project managers, and sourcing teams.
• Review load flow, fault studies, and relay setting coordination.
• Train end-users on integrated protection and control systems.
• Lead factory acceptance testing and site testing/commissioning.
• Develop outage, cut-over, and testing procedures.
• Support proposals, estimates, and vendor clarifications.
