Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to lead substation physical design projects from 12 kV to 500 kV, supporting grid modernization and renewable connections. You will apply expertise in grounding, layouts, and protection to develop safe, reliable substation designs.

The role requires collaboration with internal teams and clients, detailed QA/QC reviews, site visits, and occasional travel (10–15%). A PE license is preferred and a strong team leadership mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 8+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Strong grounding, protection, and lighting studies experience.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support delivery of substation physical design projects.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to meet needs.
• Perform QA/QC reviews on design packages.
• Read, design, and review substation drawings (one-line, three-line, grounding layouts).
• Create and verify bills of materials for substation components.
• Conduct site visits to gather data and validate designs.
