Job summary

Leidos in the United States is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to drive high-impact substation physical design projects. You’ll work on designs for 12 kV–500 kV systems, including equipment arrangement, grounding, and structural components, helping power communities and renewable connections.

You’ll collaborate with internal teams and clients, perform QA/QC reviews, read and review one-lines and foundation designs, create BOMs, and conduct site visits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
• 8+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Experience performing grounding studies, lightning protection analysis, and lighting studies.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and clients.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the delivery of substation physical design projects, ensuring technical excellence and on-time performance.
• Partner with internal engineering groups and external clients to understand needs and deliver solutions.
• Perform detailed QA/QC reviews on substation design packages.
• Read, design, and review essential substation drawings and grounding layouts.
• Create and verify bills of materials for substation components.
• Conduct site visits to gather data and validate designs.
