Job summary

Leidos seeks a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to drive high‑impact substation design projects from 12 kV to 500 kV, applying expertise in grounding, layouts, and essential drawings.

You will lead a team of engineers and CAD technicians, perform QA/QC, and collaborate with internal groups and clients to deliver safe, reliable grid solutions. Travel to project sites will be required.

Qualifications

• PE license required.
• PMP certification preferred.
• 8+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of substation physical design projects, ensuring technical excellence and on-time performance.
• Partner with internal engineering groups and clients to understand needs and deliver solutions.
• Perform detailed QA/QC reviews on design packages for accuracy and constructability.
• Read, design, and review substation drawings (one-lines, three-lines, grounding layouts).
• Create and verify bills of materials for substation components.
• Conduct site visits to gather data and validate designs.
