Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to lead high-impact substation physical design projects ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV. You will work on grounding and foundation designs to deliver safe, reliable layouts for the grid.

This role offers a hybrid schedule with three days in the Charlotte, NC office or remote within NC/SC/TN/VA with travel as needed. You will lead a team of engineers, designers, and CAD technicians to meet objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Experience with grounding studies and protection systems.
• Ability to travel to project sites.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support delivery of substation physical design projects.
• QA/QC reviews on substation design packages.
• Read, design, and review substation drawings (one-lines, grounding layouts).
• Create bills of materials for substation components.
• Conduct site visits to gather data and validate designs.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to meet schedules and budgets.
