Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to drive high-impact substation physical design projects ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV. You’ll lead technical delivery, perform QA/QC, review drawings, and coordinate with clients to meet scope, schedule, and budget.

Requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of related experience; PE license preferred and travel 10–15%. Proficiency in grounding, protection, and control design, and tools like WinIGS or CDEGS is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; 8+ years in substation physical design.
• PE license preferred; strong grounding, lightning, and lighting studies experience beneficial.
• EI/EIT certification valuable; master’s degree in related field advantageous.
• Proficiency with substation design tools such as WinIGS or CDEGS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support substation physical design project delivery with technical excellence and on-time performance.
• Read, design, and review substation drawings (one-line, three-line, plans, sections, grounding layouts, foundations).
• Create and verify bills of materials for substation components.
• Conduct site visits to collect data and validate designs with clients.
