Job summary

Pike Engineering is seeking an experienced Substation Designer to provide physical design and technical support for transmission substation projects. You will lead discipline design work, manage schedules and budgets, and contribute to proposals and business development as needed.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years of Substation Designer experience in the electrical industry, with AutoCAD proficiency and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering Technology or equivalent, or 2–4 years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, or 5–10 years with no degree.
• 5–7 years of experience as a Substation Designer in power delivery.
• Ability to use AutoCAD for creating engineering drawing packages.
• Thorough understanding of substation design and industry standard practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead discipline design work for projects and manage schedules and budgets.
• Provide technical guidance on complex engineering problems and create design packages for construction.
• Support proposal development, project cost estimating, and business development activities.
• Mentor junior designers and drafters, and oversee project execution.
• Visit sites and advise on substation physical issues to modify designs as needed.
