Job summary

Pike Engineering is seeking a Substation Designer to provide substation physical design and technical support within a transmission engineering and design team. You will lead discipline design work, estimate project costs, and assist with proposals while mentoring junior staff.

Strong AutoCAD skills and NEC/NESC knowledge are desired. Expected work includes interacting with customers, delivering accurate technical documentation, and supporting site visits to adapt designs during construction.

Qualifications

• Graduate with BS in Engineering Technology or an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, or 5–10 years of relevant experience without a degree.
• 5–7 years' experience as a Substation Designer in the electrical power delivery industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead discipline design work for projects and manage schedules and budgets.
• Provide engineering/technical guidance to identify, analyze, and resolve problems.
• Create substation physical design drawing packages for construction.
• Monitor project deliverables, schedules, and costs; present solutions to the client.
• Mentor junior designers and drafters; provide leadership as needed.
• Support proposal development, cost estimating, and potentially business development.
