Job summary

Pike Engineering is seeking a Substation Designer to lead physical design efforts for substations in the power delivery sector. You will develop and review substation layouts, elevations, and grounding plans, and coordinate with other disciplines to deliver complete packages for construction.

Responsibilities include mentoring junior designers, producing complete drawing packages, estimating project scope and schedules, and supporting site visits to verify designs during construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent
• 2–4 years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, or 5–10 years equivalent with no degree
• 5-7 years Experience as a Substation Designer in electrical industry (power delivery)

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering/technical guidance to identify, analyze, and resolve problems.
• Plan, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities.
• Prepare technical correspondence, calculations, and sketches.
• Create substation physical design packages for construction.
• Mentor junior designers and drafters.
• Interact with customers and internal technical personnel as needed.
• Monitor deliverables and schedules, presenting solutions to the client.
