Job summary

Toth and Associates, Inc. is seeking a Substation Engineer III/IV in Portland, OR to independently plan, design, and execute electrical substation projects for utility, industrial, and renewable energy clients.

You will apply advanced engineering judgment to develop constructible, code-compliant designs, lead technical reviews, mentor junior engineers, and support project managers throughout the project lifecycle. Travel may be required for coordination and site visits.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5–9 years of electrical substation engineering experience.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• EIT or PE licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and independently design substation components including yards, grounding, and protection schemes.
• Develop and review protection and control schematics, wiring, and panel layouts.
• Prepare drawings, calculations, and BOMs for planning and construction.
• Perform grounding, voltage drop, fault current studies and related analyses.
• Provide technical direction and mentor Engineer I/II staff.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and clients to resolve technical challenges.
• Maintain project documentation and support site visits.
• Travel for short periods for project coordination and client meetings.
