Job summary

The University of South Alabama’s Student Accounting department is seeking to hire a Student Accounting Data Specialist Supervisor. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations in a busy campus office, supervise clerical staff, and ensure accurate processing of tuition payments and postings in Banner and Touchnet.

Responsibilities include balancing cash receipts, preparing journal vouchers, responding to student inquiries, and maintaining compliance with FERPA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus five years of bookkeeping or clerical accounting experience, two years in an academic student accounting office.

Responsibilities

• Open and close vault daily.
• Review, verify and file daily output from computer files using control totals and other techniques.
• Serve as office contact for departmental questions relating to cash receipting transactions posted to the general ledger.
• Process student and departmental financial transactions through Banner and Touchnet systems.
• Assist and service students regarding payment and refunding issues using Banner.
• Provide official documentation for 1098T statements, student account statements and statements for reimbursements and 401K withdrawals.
• Assist parents and authorized users at the Student Accounting teller window in accordance with FERPA.
• Receive, process and balance tuition payments and deposits in Touchnet.
• Process petty cash transactions and reconcile Petty Cash Fund.
• Balance cashier deposits and verify incoming cash daily; check night depository box.
