Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and five years of bookkeeping or clerical accounting experience, two years of which were in an academic student accounting office.
• Supervisory experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Open and close vault daily.
• Review, verify and file daily output from computer files using control totals and other techniques.
• Serve as office contact for departmental questions relating to cash receipting transactions posted to their general ledger account.
• Evaluate, coordinate and process student and departmental financial transactions through the Banner Student Information System and Touchnet cashiering system.
• Assist, direct and service students concerning payment and refunding issues using the Banner Student Information System.
• Provide official documentation for students requesting replacement 1098T statements, student account statements and formatted statements for employee reimbursements and 401K withdrawals.
• Assist parents and authorized users at the Student Accounting teller window in accordance with FERPA.
• Receive, process, and balance tuition payments and departmental deposits in the Touchnet cashiering system.
• Review and process petty cash transactions in Touchnet, including reconciling the Student Accounting Petty Cash Fund.
• Assist cashiers with balancing problems and other duties.
• Verify daily multiple cashier deposits and close cashiering system before sending to the bank; verify incoming cash from the bank.
• Check night depository box daily for payments.
• Process journal vouchers.
• Receive unresolved Teller calls from students, parents and authorized users and respond or direct accordingly.
• Regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
