Job summary

WSP is seeking a Full-Time Lead Structural (Buildings) Engineer in Arlington, VA to support federal and public-sector projects. The role requires leading major design work, guiding teams, and mentoring staff while maintaining technical excellence and safety adherence.

The candidate should have a PE license, 7+ years of experience, and expertise with ETABS, SAP2000, and Revit. The position emphasizes independent work, client coordination, and compliance with federal design criteria.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
7+ years of post-education experience in the analysis and design of building structures.
Professional Engineer license.
Advanced knowledge of structural building codes, design standards, and principles.
Experience leading portions of structural design work and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff.
Willingness to travel as required by project needs.
Eligibility to work in the United States immediately.

Responsibilities

Lead structural analysis and design of new and existing buildings including gravity and lateral systems.
Develop and oversee drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and design documentation.
Coordinate structural requirements with architectural, civil, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection disciplines.
Review calculations, drawings, and documents for completeness, coordination, and compliance.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring for junior staff.
Lead or support site visits and construction-phase services.
Plan discipline work and identify technical risks to deliverables.
