Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Structural (Buildings) Engineer to join our Federal Programs AEC Team in Arlington, VA. You will lead major portions of structural design work, provide technical direction to project teams, and mentor developing staff while working with federal clients across design‑bid‑build, Design‑Build, and other delivery methods.

Candidate will oversee gravity and lateral systems, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project criteria.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • 7+ years of relevant post‑education experience in the analysis and design of building structures.
  • Professional Engineer license.
  • Advanced knowledge of structural building codes, design standards, and structural engineering principles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural analysis and design of new and existing buildings, including gravity and lateral systems, foundations, and structural components.
  • Develop and oversee structural drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and design documentation.
  • Deliver design projects in design‑bid‑build, Design‑Build, or Alternative Delivery frameworks.
  • Coordinate structural requirements with architectural, civil, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance and review for junior staff and contribute to mentoring.
