Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Structural Designer to lead diverse phases from planning to construction documentation for steel and reinforced concrete structures. You will craft 3D models, detailed drawings, and perform QA on designs for power generation projects.

The role requires a strong background in drafting technology, proficiency with Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and Excel, and the ability to mentor junior staff while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field with 13+ years of experience required.
• Advanced knowledge of Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and Excel; Tekla preferred.
• Expert knowledge in design, calculations and structural systems.
• Ability to collaborate in a multi-discipline project team to resolve design issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of 3D models and detailed drawings for steel and reinforced concrete.
• Oversee drawing production and problem analysis on complex tasks.
• Lead design on projects for power generation clients from modifications to new facilities.
• QA/QC review of 2D drafting and 3D modeling; ensure compliance with standards.
• Train and mentor junior drafting staff and designers.
• Participate in marketing and client development meetings.
• Ensure schedules, budgets and project criteria are incorporated into designs.
