Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior mechanical drafter/designer to join their Nuclear Power Group in Michigan. The role involves developing 3D mechanical layouts, piping isometrics, and equipment locations under the Mechanical Project Lead, with opportunities to mentor junior designers.

The position emphasizes leading design coordination across disciplines, performing field data gathering where needed, and delivering complete, timely design packages for complex projects.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• 10+ years of detailed physical design in mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.
• Proficiency with design software for 3D plant layout models.
• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment and coordinating related deliverables.
• Ability to interface with multi-disciplinary engineering/design teams in power plant design.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical layout drawings in 3D model.
• Design mechanical systems and troubleshoot issues.
• Create piping isometrics, composites, and equipment location drawings.
• Lead mechanical design coordination across teams.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
• Field walkdowns and data gathering may be involved.
