Job summary

City of Fairhope (AL) is seeking an experienced crew leader for street and facilities maintenance. The role directs assigned crews in daily tasks related to road repair, sidewalk construction, and drainage upkeep, while maintaining equipment and ensuring safety.

The position involves planning, scheduling, and training, with emphasis on quality workmanship and adherence to safety policies. A CDL may be required, and background checks are part of the process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of three (3) years experience working in sidewalk construction and maintenance, working with concrete projects, and street repair and maintenance.
• Possess a current and valid Alabama Driver’s License; must be insurable.
• May be required to obtain Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Ability to work on-call rotation, overtime, weekends, or emergencies as needed.
• Ability to travel throughout City to perform job functions.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and an initial drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Directs assigned crews on daily work assignments for street and asphalt repair, sidewalk maintenance, and stormwater drainage upkeep.
• Oversees equipment maintenance; reports needs and assists with repairs.
• Performs manual labor and supports projects; acts as crew leader at worksites.
• Plans, schedules, and assigns personnel; procures materials.
• Ensures safety standards and compliance at all times.
