Job summary

City of Gainesville is seeking a Lead Street Maintenance Worker to supervise a crew performing construction, maintenance and repair of city facilities and infrastructure. You will operate and maintain a range of equipment and oversee assignments on a regular basis.

The role requires training in procedures, strong supervisory skills, and the ability to plan and execute tasks while ensuring safety and quality standards. CDL may be required within six months of request.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of general construction methods and practices.
• Knowledge of concrete mixing techniques.
• Understanding operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
• Experience supervising a crew in a street department setting.
• Knowledge of safety practices and city procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead crew over maintenance staff; provide guidance and supervision.
• Assist in planning assignments and explain job specs on site.
• Ensure safety practices and regulations are followed during work.
• Operate and maintain various machinery and equipment.
• Respond to service calls and manage emergencies as needed.
• Inspect storm inlets and perform repairs.
• Maintain city vehicles and report major repairs.
• Participate in staff training and performance evaluations.
• Attend supervisory training as requested.
