Job summary

Anthropic seeks a storage-focused engineer to design, own, and operate exabyte-scale storage infrastructure across multiple clouds. You will guide architecture and drive secure, reliable, and scalable data storage for research, training, and product workloads.

You will collaborate with research, infrastructure, and data teams to align requirements, performance goals, and cost efficiency while shipping high-impact capabilities quickly.

Qualifications

• Large-scale distributed storage design and operation in production.
• Understanding of replication, erasure coding, consistency, durability, multi-region storage.
• Experience as owner/tech lead/architect for large infrastructure systems.
• Hands-on coding in a systems language (C++, Rust, Go, Java).
• Experience operating at scale: security, on-call, capacity planning, cost efficiency.
• Strong written and verbal communication across orgs and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Shape the technical strategy and architecture for Anthropic's storage layers.
• Build relationships with users and partner teams; understand access patterns and security needs.
• Collaborate with CSPs, networking, and datacenter teams on infrastructure primitives.
• Translate user needs into scalable designs and drive alignment.
• Make tradeoffs on durability, availability, consistency, performance, security, and cost.
• Lead cross-functional teams to ship new storage capabilities quickly.
• Provide simple, consistent interfaces across data sources.
• Plan and lead large migrations with minimal disruption.
• Participate in operations: SLOs, observability, capacity planning, on-call.
