Job summary

The Stationary Engineer at Daniels Health Houston oversees the maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment, including boilers, autoclaves, and the robotic washline. You will lead a small team of custodial and maintenance specialists and coordinate with engineering and plant operations to ensure continuous production.

You'll monitor gauges and controls, perform routine servicing, and respond to emergencies 24/7.

Qualifications

• Must have third-grade stationary engineers license – current and must maintain status during time of employment.
• Maintenance experience in mechanical assemblies, boilers, autoclaves, and production equipment.
• Welding and basic repair work experience.
• Electrical skills to identify and repair electrical issues and communicate fault conditions.
• Experience in supervising employees in entry-level roles is a plus.
• Ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled machines, with telephone support.
• Operate engines, boilers, and auxiliary equipment.
• Read gauges, meters, and charts to track boiler operations.
• Monitor boiler water, chemicals, and air valves; manage fuel levels.
• Proficient with computers/tablets; MS Word; Excel reporting; Maintain-X/Myosh familiarity.
• Knowledge of medical waste processing center operations.

Responsibilities

• Daily hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, service, and repair of on-site equipment.
• Communicate with Service and Engineering teams to arrange spare parts and schedules.
• Assemble, align, and install equipment and upgrades within timeline and budget.
• Provide 24/7 monitoring of equipment via phone, remotely and on-site.
• Routinely inspect equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Manage a team of 2-3 custodial and entry-level maintenance specialists.
• Assist with other leadership functions as needed by the business.
• Coordinate downtime with facility leadership for planned maintenance.
• Record data and logs to generate weekly reports on tasks and open items.
• Provide remote support to plant facilities outside the region to restore production.
• Maintain spare parts inventory in partnership with plant management.
• Cover for other Supervisors and Managers during callouts or vacations.
