Job summary

Nexamp is seeking a Senior Solar Project Engineer to lead engineering execution for complex solar and energy storage projects across the lifecycle. You will own critical technical decisions, coordinate internal teams and external vendors, and mentor engineers to drive continuous improvements.

Hybrid work setup with hub offices in Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, and Washington DC. Report to the Manager, Project Engineering, contributing to Nexamp’s mission to advance clean energy solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 5+ years in solar or BESS design/project engineering.
• Experience leading engineering for complex PV/BESS projects across full life cycle.
• Knowledge of PV/BESS design, construction, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with NEC/IBC/IFC codes.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage critical paths.
• Understanding of DG/community solar market nuances.
• Experience CAD and energy modeling outputs to support decisions.
• Proven ability to manage contracts with engineering consultants/suppliers.
• Mentorship experience and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and execution across the full project life cycle for PV and BESS assets.
• Own technical decisions, balance cost, schedule, and performance.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and external engineers/vendors.
• Develop and interpret plant performance models and analyses.
• Review and approve key engineering deliverables and spec compliance.
• Mentor junior team members and provide technical coaching.
• Drive department-wide process improvements and tooling enhancements.
• Manage vendor/consultant relationships across the project life cycle.
• Conduct site visits during construction for assessment.
