Job summary

The Recruiting Hive is helping a Milford, CT-based electrical contractor recruit a Project Manager for its expanding solar division. The PM will oversee large commercial and municipal solar projects from contract execution through final completion, coordinating schedule, budget, procurement, and stakeholders.

The role requires 4+ years in commercial/electrical construction or utility-scale solar, strong NEC knowledge, and excellent communication and leadership.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of PM experience in commercial construction, electrical construction, or utility-scale solar.
• Strong NEC and electrical construction knowledge.
• Experience with projects exceeding 500 kW.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and electrical schematics.
• Budgeting and cost control experience.
• Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple commercial and municipal solar projects (rooftop, ground mount, carport, and portfolio-based) across Connecticut.
• Lead project kickoff meetings and establish clear execution plans.
• Develop and maintain project schedules (critical path, long lead items, utility coordination timelines).
• Manage procurement of major equipment including modules, inverters, switchgear, transformers, and balance of system materials.
• Coordinate with utilities for interconnection, witness testing, and approvals.
• Track project budgets and monitor costs to ensure margin targets are maintained.
• Review and manage subcontracts and vendor agreements.
• Submit and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering and field teams to ensure design intent is executed correctly.
• Oversee permitting and inspection processes.
• Manage project billing milestones and support O&M transition at project completion.
• Maintain organized project documentation and reporting.
• Identify and mitigate risks early in the project lifecycle.
