Job summary

First Citizens is seeking a skilled data processing systems professional for a remote role with NC priority. You will lead core banking data processing work across multiple markets, from requirements through implementation and testing, ensuring production stability and timely issue resolution.

The role requires expertise in legacy banking tech (COBOL, CICS, VSAM, DB2, Easytrieve, JCL) and modern practices (Waterfall/Agile), with strong problem-solving and collaboration abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher with 6 years in software development and maintenance.
• Or High School Diploma or GED with 10 years in software development and maintenance.
• Preferred Area of Study: Computer Science
• Preferred Area of Experience: Debit and Credit Cards experience a plus

Responsibilities

• System Enhancement — leads team to evaluate and improve department systems, processes and applications; designs tests and training materials.
• Business Support — provides technical support to production systems, addresses complex issues, and ensures functionality for end users.
• Technical Expertise — mentors associates and acts as a technical resource for management and business units.
• Data Analysis — collects data on user requests, assesses scope and system impacts, reviews specifications and plans.
• Provides 24/7 on-call rotations
