Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a software developer to help design and build a new state-of-the-art simulation platform for autonomous construction sites in Irving, Texas. You will work on end-to-end software for simulation, rendering, and data flow across connected teams and systems.

The role emphasizes collaboration with robotics and cloud teams, with a strong focus on quality, scalability, and practical AI-enabled solutions. Experience with CI/CD and modern web technologies is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience building simulation and rendering platforms.
• Experience in 3D object rendering and manipulation.
• Experience with mapping technology (GIS, Terrain mapping, OpenLayers).
• Experience in leveraging web graphics/animation standard libraries and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development of the simulation software stack (full stack).
• Write high-quality software, follow best practices and participate in code reviews.
• Work collaboratively with peers and onboard new team members.
• Participate in software design and requirements discussions.
• Collaborate with the Robotic team to align needs with implementation, focusing on quality and value.
• Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Contribute to brainstorming and ideation sessions.
• Engage in other tasks as needed by the team.

What You Will Do

• Participate in the development of the simulation Software stack- full stack
• Write high quality software, follow best practices and participate in code review
• Work collaboratively with your peers, Onboard other peers
• Participate in writing software design and requirements discussions
• Work tightly with the Robotic team and any other team, aligning their needs with your implementation, reducing gaps and deviations, while focussing on Quality and Value.
• Improve and Maintain CI/CD.
• Participate actively in brainstorming and ideation sessions

• Experience of building simulation and rendering platforms
• Experience in 3D object rendering and manipulation
• Experience with mapping technology (Like GIS, Terrain mapping, OpenLayers)
• Experience in leveraging web graphic / animation standard library
• Advance knowledge of designing, building and using open source, publish data and APIs (like graphQL)
• Experience in designing, publishing and maintaining DB schema (SQL, NoSQL)
• Experience with best practices and processes for engineering team
• Experience with AI coding tool (like Claude, Copilot, Cursor)
• Experience with Cloud Platform such as AWS (Preferred), Azure, Google cloud / Firebase
• Experience with web automation tooling and deploying on CI/CD (Like WebPack, ESLint, Playright)

• Drop animation, 3D, mapping
• + Drop backend years , front end “experienced”

Top Candidate

• 5+ years of experience hands on coding backend in coding language such as Java or Node.Js
• 3+ years of experience hands on coding frontend in coding language such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• 3+ years of experience hands on coding with Framework such as Angular, React/NextJs
• Experience with agile methodology
• Good knowledge of Python
• Experience with Nvidia Omniverse or other Simulation Platform

Summary Pay Range

$128,470.00 - $208,770.00
