Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a senior software engineer to advance autonomous construction simulations and related AI/ML workloads. You will help build the full stack for the simulation platform, collaborate with robotics teams, and drive high-quality code across frontend and backend components.

The role emphasizes 3D rendering, GIS/mapping tech, and cloud-based deployment with CI/CD, in a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environment in Dallas–Fort Worth area.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years hands-on coding in backend and frontend.
  • Experience with 3D rendering and simulation platforms.
  • Knowledge of GIS or mapping tech.
  • Familiar with GraphQL and open source data APIs.
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Proficient in CI/CD and web automation tools.
  • Experience with Nvidia Omniverse or similar.
  • Strong collaboration and agile skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of the simulation software stack—full stack.
  • Write high-quality software, follow best practices, and review code.
  • Collaborate with peers and onboard new team members.
  • Contribute to software design and requirements discussions.
  • Work with the Robotic team to align needs with implementation, focusing on quality and value.
  • Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate in brainstorming and ideation sessions.
  • Be flexible and take on additional tasks as needed.

What You Will Do
  • Participate in the development of the simulation Software stack- full stack
  • Write high quality software, follow best practices and participate in code review
  • Work collaboratively with your peers, Onboard other peers
  • Participate in writing software design and requirements discussions
  • Work tightly with the Robotic team and any other team, aligning their needs with your implementation, reducing gaps and deviations, while focussing on Quality and Value.
  • Improve and Maintain CI/CD.
  • Participate actively in brainstorming and ideation sessions

Required
  • Experience of building simulation and rendering platforms
  • Experience in 3D object rendering and manipulation
  • Experience with mapping technology (Like GIS, Terrain mapping, OpenLayers)
  • Experience in leveraging web graphic / animation standard library
  • Advance knowledge of designing, building and using open source, publish data and APIs (like graphQL)
  • Experience in designing, publishing and maintaining DB schema (SQL, NoSQL)
  • Experience with best practices and processes for engineering team
  • Experience with AI coding tool (like Claude, Copilot, Cursor)
  • Experience with Cloud Platform such as AWS (Preferred), Azure, Google cloud / Firebase
  • Experience with web automation tooling and deploying on CI/CD (Like WebPack, ESLint, Playright)

  • + Drop backend years, front end “experienced”
Top Candidate
  • 5+ years of experience hands on coding backend in coding language such as Java or Node.Js
  • 3+ years of experience hands on coding frontend in coding language such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • 3+ years of experience hands on coding with Framework such as Angular, React/NextJs
  • Experience with agile methodology
  • Good knowledge of Python
  • Experience with Nvidia Omniverse or other Simulation Platform
Additional Details

This position is onsite five days a week.

It is located in Dallas, Texas (Irving)

Relocation and Sponsorship will be considered.

Summary Pay Range

$112,710.00 - $183,140.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
