Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a skilled software professional to help build and refine the simulation stack for autonomous construction work.

You will render 3D scenes, integrate GIS tools, and collaborate with robotic teams to ensure high-quality, scalable software across full-stack development. Ideal candidates have hands-on backend and frontend experience (Java/Node.js and HTML/JS), plus familiarity with frameworks like Angular or React, and strong Python skills.

Qualifications

• Experience building simulation and rendering platforms.
• Experience with 3D rendering and mapping tech.
• Experience with GIS/terrain mapping.
• Experience leveraging open source, publish data and APIs (GraphQL).
• Experience designing, publishing and maintaining DB schemas (SQL/NoSQL).
• Experience with CI/CD tooling (Webpack, ESLint, Playwright).

Responsibilities

• Develop the simulation software stack (full stack).
• Write high quality software and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with peers and onboard new teammates.
• Participate in design and requirements discussions.
• Coordinate with the Robotic team and other groups to align needs and ensure quality.
• Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in brainstorming and ideation sessions.
• Be flexible and contribute additional tasks as needed.

What you will do:

• Participate in the development of the simulation Software stack- full stack
• Write high quality software, follow best practices and participate in code review
• Work collaboratively with your peers, Onboard other peers
• Participate in writing software design and requirements discussions
• Work tightly with the Robotic team and any other team, aligning their needs with your implementation, reducing gaps and deviations, while focussing on Quality and Value.
• Improve and Maintain CI/CD.

• Experience of building simulation and rendering platforms
• Experience in 3D object rendering and manipulation
• Experience with mapping technology (Like GIS, Terrain mapping, OpenLayers)
• Experience in leveraging web graphic / animation standard library
• Advance knowledge of designing, building and using open source, publish data and APIs (like graphQL)
• Experience in designing, publishing and maintaining DB schema (SQL, NoSQL)
• Experience with best practices and processes for engineering team
• Experience with AI coding tool (like Claude, Copilot, Cursor)
• Experience with Cloud Platform such as AWS (Preferred), Azure, Google cloud / Firebase
• Experience with web automation tooling and deploying on CI/CD (Like WebPack, ESLint, Playright)
• G22
• Drop animation, 3D, mapping
• + Drop backend years , front end "experienced"

Top Candidate:

• 5+ years of experience hands on coding backend in coding language such as Java or Node.Js
• 3+ years of experience hands on coding frontend in coding language such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• 3+ years of experience hands on coding with Framework such as Angular, React/NextJs
• Experience with agile methodology
• Good knowledge of Python
• Experience with Nvidia Omniverse or other Simulation Platform

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $208,770.00
