Job summary

RR Donnelley in Indiana is seeking a 1st shift Bindery Operator to set up, adjust and operate a range of binding machines, producing books, catalogs and manuals for customers.

You will read job orders, monitor quality and output, and help train team members while upholding safety standards. The role offers starting pay at $20.80 per hour with overtime and shift differential of $2 for 2nd shift and $3 for 3rd shift, plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Familiar with different paper weights, sizes, kinds and colors to identify paper conditions.
• Basic math understanding to interpret dimensional requirements in job orders.
• Ability to use standard and specialized tools to adjust and maintain bindery machinery.
• Skill in using handtools (wrenches, screwdrivers, punches, knives) to adjust powered machines.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions detailing machine operations.
• Knowledge of operating procedures for bindery equipment.
• Understanding setup, adjustment, and limitations of folding, collating, and cutting printed materials.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate bindery machines containing several cutting heads, control surfaces or other attachments.
• May set up automatic bindery machines with multiple functions and station capabilities to produce finished products.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues.
• May operate perfect binders with numerous process stations.
• Make adjustments to coordinate multiple work stations on a single machine.
• Direct crew through all aspects of production.
• Monitor quality, output and productivity.
• Exert up to 20 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 - 25 lbs. frequently.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Responsible for training and supporting new and existing team members.
