Job summary

Skydio is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Solutions Engineering for SLED Small Cities. This remote role requires travel ~30% and reports to the Director, Solutions Engineering – SLED.

You will lead a high-volume, transactional motion with one SE to two Key Account Leaders, shaping demonstrations that influence city-level decisions. You will build and scale the SLED SE team, drive technical wins, and ensure field-driven program designs are integrated and flown at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant technical experience in a customer-facing role (solutions engineering, field engineering, or applications engineering).
• 1+ years leading a technical team with hiring and mentorship responsibility.
• Strong understanding of drone technology, Public Safety sUAS operations, and regulatory compliance.
• Working knowledge of Public Safety technologies (CAD, VMS) and ability to lead integration discussions.
• Proven ability to hire, onboard, and develop technical people and retain them.
• Comfort operating inside a Sales organization, including owning a quota and deal strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team with hiring, onboarding, coaching, and retention across territories in your segment.
• Set the bar for technical quality in demos, trial plans, site assessments, and customer-facing docs.
• Own capacity planning and make tradeoffs visible to leadership.
• Own the technical win across a 2:1 coverage model and escalate technical issues when needed.
• Serve as senior technical escalation point on pursuits, deployments, and customer issues.
• Partner with Sales leadership on pipeline, forecast, and account planning.
• Own the Small Cities problem set by standing up the team and defining operating model.
• Maintain site assessment quality and be the DRI for dock location verifications.
• Maintain proofs of concept with measurable operational value.
• Guide integration and airspace strategy (CAD, dispatch, video, BVLOS, waivers, COAs).
• Manage public sector procurement paths (cooperative contracts, grants).
• Represent customer needs to Product and Engineering and build reusable technical assets.
• Be the aggregated voice of customer for prioritized requirements.
• Develop enablement content and reference architectures.
