Job summary

GoDaddy's Global Storage Engineering team invites a Lead Senior Site Reliability Engineer to design and scale the Ceph-based storage platform. You’ll guide multi-quarter architectural direction, mentor engineers, and own major platform upgrades across globally distributed infrastructure.

This remote role allows occasional in-person events and meetings. You’ll work on CRUSH topology, capacity planning, and cross-functional incident resolution to ensure reliability for millions of customers.

Qualifications

• 7+ years designing, operating, and scaling distributed storage platforms with production Ceph
• Expert-level Ceph knowledge including CRUSH maps, OSD, MON/MGR/MDS, RGW, CephFS, RBD and erasure coding
• Experience leading storage upgrades, migrations, and modernization programs from planning to production
• Strong automation and software engineering skills using Python and/or Go, with IaC and orchestration tools

Responsibilities

• Design and architect large-scale production Ceph clusters including topology and data placement
• Lead capacity planning, performance modeling, and hardware qualification across 80+ clusters
• Own major platform upgrades and migrations (Ceph releases, OpenStack integrations)
• Drive resolution of complex cross-functional incidents spanning storage, networking, and compute
• Establish automation and reliability practices to improve scalability and reduce toil
