Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. seeks a Lead Solutions Design Engineer to support Growth in Supply Chain Solutions & Dedicated Transportation by designing, validating, and presenting feasible, value-driven logistics solutions.

You will work with pursuit teams, manage design processes, and mentor other engineers to deliver sustainable, optimized networks. Responsibilities include data validation, cost modeling, and collaboration with pricing, IT, and operations to ensure wins and smooth startup transitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering
• Six (6) years or more in the Transportation industry
• Six (6) years or more in the Warehousing and/or Manufacturing industry
• Microsoft Office Suite skills with emphasis on Access, Excel and PowerPoint expert required
• Knowledgeable of visualization (Tableau, Microsoft) and database programming intermediate preferred
• Knowledge of effective metrics programs and design networks that are sustainable and measurable advanced required
• Transportation Design: extensive knowledge of Dedicated Services and Managed Transportation Networks; equipment types; design tools such as JDA, Appian, Llamasoft, OTM; mapping software Tableau
• Warehouse Design: extensive knowledge of Warehouse Management operations, data analytics, industrial engineering, and Lean methods; materials handling and automation; CAD tools like AutoCAD; slotting; MOST; Tableau; Manhattan Scale; labor management systems

Responsibilities

• Review RFP documents, objectives, and develop questions to clarify gaps and initial hypotheses for a solution design
• Data validation, cleansing, profiling, baseline development and defining scenarios to model
• Calculate labor, equipment, facility and expense requirements and develop cost and pricing models
• Develop optimization scenarios and strategies aligned with objectives
• Meet with customers and bid teams; support technical reviews and design validation meetings
• Implementation follow-up; validate and modify deployed processes to match plan
• Develop and improve engineering tools and methodologies for best practices
• Lead consulting projects involving understanding customer pain-points and presenting solutions
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering

Six (6) years or more in the Transportation industry

Six (6) years or more in the Warehousing and/or Manufacturing industry

Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint)
