Job summary

Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research seeks a principal investigator to drive development and optimization of human iPSC-based models and organoid systems. You will lead innovative projects and collaborate with NIH SOM initiatives to advance cancer research and regenerative medicine.

Responsibilities include experimental design, data integration, and mentoring junior scientists while maintaining rigorous quality and biosafety standards in a dynamic lab environment at Ft.

Qualifications

  • PhD from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant postdoctoral or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, lead, and execute independent research projects focused on iPSC-based models, organoids, and advanced in vitro systems to support the NIH SOM Initiative.
  • Develop and optimize differentiation protocols, cellular assays, and QC strategies for scalable, biologically relevant models.
  • Design experiments, analyze complex datasets, and integrate molecular, cellular, imaging, and functional data.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary investigators across the SOM Center and NIH.
  • Contribute to grant applications, technical reports, manuscripts, and SOPs.
  • Mentor research associates, trainees, and junior scientists; supervise junior staff when needed.
  • Oversee lab resources, biosafety compliance, and implementation of new technologies.
  • Stay current with advances in stem cell biology and organoid technologies.
