Job summary

Augusta University seeks a senior scientist to join the Medical College of Georgia as Assistant Research Scientist, Research Scientist, or Principal Research Scientist and to serve as Director of the Core iPSC and Organoid Facility. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on scientific guidance across iPSC platforms, organoids, organ-on-chip, and genome editing.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in Cell Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
• 7+ years of post-degree research experience in stem cell biology and advanced cell culture models.
• Proven leadership and management of core facilities or labs.
• Strong peer‑reviewed publication record demonstrating high‑impact research contributions.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the Core iPSC and Organoid Facility.
• Oversee operations, SOPs, workflows, budgets, and instrument maintenance.
• Mentor and develop technical staff and foster collaboration.
• Partner with investigators on grants, proposals, and strategic research initiatives.
• Represent the core facility at institutional meetings and conferences.
